Sorare MLB help | 15 frequently asked questions

It can be confusing to start a new fantasy game. To help you get started, we've compiled a list of the top 15 questions we receive daily.

(1) Do I need a new account to play Sorare MLB?

Sorare allows you to manage all your sports accounts from a single wallet. If managers already have a Sorare Football account, they do not need to create another one for Sorare MLB.

(2) How do I unlock more channels in the Discord server?

I see only the Rookies channels (Welcome, Rules, Getting Started, Ask the Community, Rep Your Squad).

Make sure you head to the 🙌︱rep-your-squad  channel and react to your favourite team’s logo. This will unlock the rest of the channels.

(3) What is the difference between the American and National Leagues?

There is no difference anymore, it is used mostly for scheduling (like NFL Conferences). Prior to 2022, the American League had a unique position for hitters: the Designated Hitter (DH). This hitter would only bat and never play in the field, allowing the starting pitcher to avoid batting. Pitchers in the National League had to bat (usually in the 8th or 9th spot). DHs are now used in both leagues universally.

(4) When we first start out, how many cards do we receive?

A total of five Common cards are displayed, and you can choose your favorite. Following that, you will receive 12 other Common cards to play. The total number of Common cards to start with will be 13.

(5) In Sorare MLB, are defensive actions scored?

The only actions that are scored are offensive ones. The detailed scoring system can be found Below  all in one table:

(6) Is it possible for Shohei Ohtani to accumulate pitching and hitting points at the same time?

Players can only accumulate pitching statistics or hitting statistics in a given Game Week, not both.

For example, Shohei Ohtani is capable of both pitching and hitting. Sorare: MLB players will need to decide whether to count Ohtani’s pitching OR hitting statistics during a given Game Week. This means he can only be played specifically as a Starting Pitcher (for pitching statistics), Corner Infielder, or Extra Hitter (for hitting statistics).

(7) What is the difference between the Extra Hitter and the Flex positions?

The Extra Hitter position allows you to put any hitter, but not a pitcher. Any player can be put in the Flex position, regardless of whether he’s a pitcher or hitter.

(8) How often do Starting Pitchers, Relief Pitchers and Batters play?

Typically, starting pitchers play every five days, relief pitchers play depending on the outcome of each game (they can pitch two or three days in a row, but rarely more). Typically, batters (those who fill the 1 to 9 spots in their team’s lineups – the equivalent of starting 11 in football) play every day their team plays. It is important to remember that injuries, offdays, postponed games, and other life events  can disrupt this established routine.

(9) What happens with players that are eligible at both pitcher and hitter?

Players can only accumulate pitching statistics or hitting statistics in a given Game Week, not both.

For example, Shohei Ohtani is capable of both pitching and hitting. Sorare: MLB players will need to decide whether to count Ohtani’s pitching OR hitting statistics during a given Game Week. This means he can only be played specifically as a Starting Pitcher (for pitching statistics), Corner Infielder, or Extra Hitter (for hitting statistics).

As a result, Shohei Ohtani cannot be selected in the Flex position.

(10)Where can I see if my pitchers are scheduled to play in the upcoming GW?

MLB’s official website (MLB schedule) contains official information from the teams.

Here’s a link you can check if you want a larger overview, but maybe not 100% accurate: Fantasypros

(11) If there are 3 games in a GW, does the total from all three count or only the best score from a single game?

This total is based on the results of all three games combined.

(12) On a player’s card, what does the ” # games left” mean?

It’s the number of games that player still has left in the GW. Scores from all games are added together to determine the final score.

(13) Is it possible for a starting pitcher to play twice in a Gameweek?

In 99.99% of cases, the answer is no, during the regular season (playoffs are a different matter).

Starting pitchers play every five days, not every five games. Due to doubleheaders (i.e. two games in one day), the nuance is important.

(14) How do I open a ticket to get some help?

You can submit a request by clicking the Help tab on the website and then clicking Submit a Request on the top right of the page. Any issues regarding transactions, missing player points, etc., can be addressed here.

(15) How does a Starting Pitcher get points for a Win?

This is the definition of a win in baseball. (it’s not enough for the team’s SP to win the game)

Definition

A pitcher receives a win when he is the pitcher of record when his team takes the lead for good — with a couple rare exceptions. First, a starting pitcher must pitch at least five innings (in a traditional game of nine innings or longer) to qualify for the win. If he does not, the official scorer awards the win to the most effective relief pitcher.

There is also a rarely used clause where an official scorer can deem a relief pitcher’s appearance “brief and ineffective.” (For example, if a reliever relinquished a one-run lead by allowing three runs, but was still in line for a win after his team scored four runs in the following inning — that may qualify.) If that’s the case, the scorer can award the win to a pitcher who followed that “brief and ineffective” pitcher. Which relief pitcher earns the win specifically is also up to the judgment of the official scorer.
